The IC-M25 is a floating portable.
Drop it in the water - unintentionally of course! - and she stays on the surface.
In addition, a red flashing light is triggered instantly on contact with water to locate it at night.


Small and light

To make a floating VHF, Icom, like other manufacturers, had no choice but to make a bulky VHF to enclose air in it.
Very light (barely 220 g) the IC-M25 can also be very compact (56.5 x 134.2 x 30.5 mm).
A really tiny model when you have it in hand and which floats.
Great feat from Icom!

Automatic cleaning

Icom has been developing for some time now a function which allows water to be removed from the surface of the loudspeaker in order to have clear listening, called AquaQuake.
A low sound, a strong vibration of the loudspeaker which drives the water on the surface.
On the new IC-M25 model, this function is activated automatically as soon as the VHF comes out of the water.

A universal charger

The IC-M25 has under the transmit button, a Micro-B USB socket.
These are the same sockets as those of mobile phones (excluding iPhone).
Thus this portable VHF can be recharged on a conventional USB socket, either via a 12V adapter, or directly on the USB port of a computer.
The VHF is supplied as standard with a 220 V - Micro-B USB cable.
The same cable installed on board can thus be used for several devices.

Tastes and colors

Icom did not make its reputation for serious products by working on colors.
Icom products are quite strict, very far from a game boy.
For the IC-M25, the Japanese manufacturer is trying the color card, but with moderation…
Thus the front of the portable VHF can optionally receive blue (for the most daring color!), gray or white edging.
In addition to the look, this choice can help differentiate several VHFs within the same fleet.
