Small in size, the Flat Winder Harken electric pulley is dedicated to adjusting the mainsail traveler. This powerful and easy-to-use model is a valuable tool in terms of mainsail control since it allows you to unload the mainsail quickly and delay reefing when the wind picks up. Like a compact captive winch, the Flat Winder electric pulley is completely independent. Operating in both directions, it allows the trolley to move along the entire rail while freeing the sheet from the cockpit floor. To save space, Harken recommends the installation of two 2-function digital switches, one on the port side, the other on the starboard side, for control of the block from both sides of the sailboat. The large diameter drive sheave is mounted on an angled base forming an angle with the top of the sheave to hold the line and prevent it from straining against the walls of the block. The friction resulting from the progressive retention of the sheet is studied to limit the wear of the rope and the components to a minimum. The electric block also avoids the need for winches, thus freeing up space on the deck and facilitating navigation. The compact horizontal engine, housed below deck, has a maximum working load of 250 kg. When the block is combined with a 10 mm diameter sheet and a 4-leg tackle, this results in a pulling force of approximately 1000 kg. The unloaded rope speed is 35 m/min. A Harken 2-function relay box is supplied with the pulley. Embedded with a load limiter, it offers significant space savings and is easier to install than systems requiring separate overload protection since it halves the number of cables required. The FlatWinder electric block is suitable for 15-18m monohulls and 14-15m catamarans. It is available in 12 V and 24 V. Switches and circuit breakers are not included.
